Careers at Pacific Fireplaces

Pacific Fireplaces – Heating & Cooling is a family-owned fireplace and heat pump company in Saanichton, BC. We have sold, installed and serviced fireplaces across Greater Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula since 2000, and ductless heat pumps since 2022. We are a small crew, and we hire for the roles below as the team grows.

Why work here

  • Two trades in one shop. Gas, wood and electric fireplaces from September to February, ductless heat pumps the rest of the year. The work is steady year-round and you learn both.
  • Learn from a working technician. The owner is a Red Seal Class B gasfitter and Red Seal refrigeration technician with Advanced WETT certification, and still does the estimating and technical design.
  • Local products. Much of what we install is built in Victoria: the Enviro, Urbana and Uptown fireplace lines.
  • Customers who come back. Over 350 Google reviews averaging 4.8 stars, earned one job at a time.
  • Based in Saanichton. Showroom and warehouse on Keating Cross Road, with jobs across the Saanich Peninsula and Greater Victoria.

Roles we hire for

Heat Pump & Fireplace Installer / Service Technician

Install gas, wood and electric fireplaces, inserts and stoves, including venting and finishing. Install ductless heat pumps from mounting through commissioning. Carry out annual service, diagnosis and repair on the same equipment. You work in customers’ homes, on your own or with one other technician, so you need to be tidy, clear with people and able to make decisions on site.

Useful to have: a Technical Safety BC gasfitter certificate (Class B), a Red Seal or BC refrigeration ticket, WETT certification, or trade experience in HVAC, gasfitting, carpentry or a related field. Gas and refrigeration work in BC has to be done under a ticket or a registered apprenticeship, so certified applicants go to the front of the line, but experienced trades people without one should still apply. A valid BC driver’s licence is needed for this role.

Apprentice

For someone starting in the trade. You work alongside our technicians on installations and service calls, learn fireplaces and heat pumps at the same time, and build the hours and experience toward a gasfitter or refrigeration ticket.

Useful to have: a driver’s licence, comfort with ladders, crawlspaces and lifting heavy equipment, and some hands-on background such as construction, a trades program, or work with your hands. No fireplace or heat pump experience is expected.

Showroom Sales & Customer Service

The first person a customer meets, in the showroom and on the phone. You help people choose a fireplace or heat pump, book service calls and quotes, keep the showroom in order and follow up on jobs. The technical side is taught here. What you bring is the ability to listen, explain clearly and keep track of many small things at once.

Useful to have: retail, hospitality or customer service experience, comfort with computers and scheduling software, and an interest in how homes are heated. An eye for design is a bonus on the fireplace side.

How to apply

Email your resume to Info@PacificFireplaces.com with the role in the subject line. Tell us which certifications you hold, when you could start, and anything you would like us to know that is not on the resume. A short email is fine. You can also call (250) 544-6769 and ask about the position, or drop a resume at the showroom: 2205 Keating Cross Road, Saanichton.

If none of the roles above fits but you think you belong here, send your resume anyway and say what you would like to do. We keep applications on file.
